This Privacy Policy explains how Grit Digital LLC (“we,” “us,” “our”) collects, uses, and shares information through palmspringschefservice.com (the “Site”).
The most important thing to know
This Site is a referral service. Any information you give us — whether typed into a form on this Site or spoken to our phone line, including our automated receptionist — may be forwarded to one or more independent third-party chefs, caterers, or food service businesses (“Providers”) so they can contact you and quote your event.
We may be paid by a Provider for that referral. Because we receive value in exchange for passing your information along, this may legally constitute a “sale” or “sharing” of your personal information under California law, and we treat it as such. Your opt-out rights are described below.
If you do not want your information forwarded to a Provider, do not submit it through this Site and do not provide it by phone.
Information we collect
Information you give us. When you fill in a form on this Site, call or text our phone number (including speaking with our automated receptionist), or email us, we may collect your name, phone number, email address, event date and time, event address or location, guest count, budget, menu preferences, and any dietary, allergy, or health-related details you choose to include, along with anything else you write in a message.
Information collected automatically. Like most websites, we and our service providers may automatically collect your IP address, browser type and version, device type, operating system, referring page, pages viewed, links clicked, and dates and times of access, using cookies and similar technologies.
We do not knowingly collect payment card numbers, bank details, government identification numbers, or account passwords through this Site. Please do not send them to us.
Calls, texts, and our automated receptionist
Our phone number may be answered by an automated or AI-assisted receptionist rather than a live person. It asks about your event so your inquiry can be routed to a Provider.
Calls to and from our number may be recorded, transcribed, stored, and reviewed for the purposes of taking your inquiry, forwarding it to a Provider, quality assurance, training, and recordkeeping. Recordings and transcripts may include everything you say on the call, including your name, phone number, event details, address, budget, and any dietary, allergy, or health information you mention.
California and several other states require the consent of all parties to record a confidential communication. Where a call is recorded, you will be told at the start of the call. If you do not consent to being recorded, tell us at the start of the call, hang up, or contact us in writing instead. Continuing the call after that notice is your consent to being recorded.
Where an automated system is handling the call, we will make that clear. You may ask to be transferred to a person or to be contacted another way at any time.
Recordings and transcripts are treated the same as any other inquiry information: they may be shared with a Provider, and they are covered by the retention, security, and rights sections below.
Sensitive information — allergies and dietary details
If you tell us about a food allergy, intolerance, or medical dietary requirement, you are giving us health-related information voluntarily so it can be passed to a Provider. By providing it, you consent to us sharing it with a Provider for that purpose. Please share only what is necessary. As explained in our Disclaimer, passing this information along is not a guarantee it will be received, understood, or accommodated, and you should confirm it directly with the Provider.
How we use information
- To respond to your inquiry and communicate with you about it
- To refer you to one or more Providers and give them what they need to quote your event
- To operate, secure, maintain, and improve the Site
- To measure how the Site is used and how inquiries are generated
- To detect and prevent fraud, abuse, and spam
- To comply with law and to establish, exercise, or defend legal claims
Which chef or caterer receives your information
This Site may operate in either of two ways at any given time, and we tell you which below.
Non-exclusive referral. Your inquiry may be forwarded to one or more independent chefs or catering companies serving the Coachella Valley, selected based on your date, location, guest count, and the type of service you asked about.
Exclusive arrangement. Where this Site is contracted exclusively to a single chef or catering company, your inquiry goes to that business alone, and it is named here:
Current contracted Provider: [NONE — this Site is not currently contracted exclusively to a single Provider. When it is, that business’s legal name and contact details will be listed here.]
In either case the Provider is an independent business, not our employee or agent, and its own privacy policy governs what it does with your information once we pass it on.
How we share information
With Providers. This is the core purpose of the Site. Your inquiry details are shared with one or more independent chefs or caterers. Once shared, that Provider’s own privacy practices govern how your information is used, stored, and retained. We do not control what a Provider does with it, and we are not responsible for their practices.
With service providers. We use third parties to host the Site, deliver forms and email, cache and secure pages, and analyze traffic. They may process information on our behalf.
For legal reasons. We may disclose information if required by law, subpoena, or legal process, or where we believe disclosure is necessary to protect rights, safety, or property, or to investigate fraud or abuse.
Business transfers. If this Site or our business is sold, leased, merged, or transferred — including leasing the Site to a Provider — information may transfer with it.
We do not sell your information to unrelated data brokers or advertising networks. However, because we may be compensated for referring your inquiry to a Provider, that referral may be treated as a “sale” or “sharing” of personal information under California law. See your rights below.
Cookies and tracking
Cookies and similar technologies keep the Site working, remember preferences, and help us understand traffic. Most browsers let you refuse or delete cookies; parts of the Site may not work properly if you do. We do not currently serve behavioral advertising from this Site.
Global Privacy Control. If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control (GPC) or similar opt-out preference signal, we treat it as a valid request to opt out of the sale or sharing of your personal information for that browser.
Your California privacy rights
If you are a California resident, the California Consumer Privacy Act as amended (CCPA/CPRA) gives you the right to:
- Know what personal information we collect, use, and disclose, and to request a copy
- Delete personal information we hold about you, subject to exceptions
- Correct inaccurate personal information
- Opt out of the sale or sharing of your personal information
- Limit the use of sensitive personal information
- Not be discriminated against for exercising these rights
To opt out of the sale or sharing of your personal information, or to make any other request, email us at brock@gritdigi.com with the subject line “Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information.” You may also use an authorized agent. We will verify your request by asking you to confirm details matching what we hold. We aim to respond within 45 days.
Please note: once your information has already been passed to a Provider, we cannot delete it from that Provider’s records. You would need to contact them directly.
Other state privacy rights
Residents of other states with comprehensive privacy laws may have similar rights to access, correct, delete, or port their personal information and to opt out of targeted advertising or sale. Use the same contact details to make a request, and tell us which state you reside in.
Marketing communications
You can opt out of marketing email using the unsubscribe link, and out of text messages by replying STOP. Opting out of our messages does not opt you out of messages from a Provider you were referred to — contact that Provider directly. We may still send you non-marketing messages about an inquiry you submitted.
Data retention
We keep inquiry information for as long as needed to operate the referral service, meet legal and recordkeeping obligations, and resolve disputes. Server logs and analytics data are typically retained for a shorter period. When information is no longer needed, we delete it or de-identify it.
Security
We use reasonable administrative and technical measures to protect information, including encryption in transit. No website or transmission method is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. You submit information at your own risk.
Children
This Site is intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 16. If you believe a child has given us information, contact us and we will delete it.
Third-party sites
The Site may link to third-party websites, including those of Providers. We are not responsible for their content or privacy practices. Review their policies before submitting information to them.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy at any time. The “Last updated” date above reflects the current version, and changes take effect when posted.
Governing law
This Privacy Policy and any dispute relating to it are governed by the laws of the State of Washington, and any claim must be brought exclusively in the state or federal courts located in the State of Washington, as set out in our Terms of Service. This does not limit any right you have under the privacy laws of your own state that cannot lawfully be waived.
