After You Send It

What happens next

You’ll have a reply within 24 hours, usually sooner. Enquiries that arrive overnight get answered first thing.

That first reply confirms whether your date is open and asks for anything still missing, which is normally the guest count, whether you want one meal or several across a stay, and what people at the table can’t eat.

The chef then drafts a menu written for your particular night and sends it with an itemised quote. There is no charge for that and no obligation attached to it. Plenty of people ask for a menu, sit on it, and come back a month later.

If the menu needs changing, say so. Swapping a course, moving from plated to family-style, or shifting the whole booking from dinner to brunch is completely normal at this stage and costs nothing.

Nothing is confirmed until you say yes and the date is held. After that we stay in touch as the day gets closer, because guest counts move and dietary requirements have a habit of appearing late.

If your date is already gone, you’ll be told immediately rather than left waiting on it.

What to include in your message

The more of this you can give us, the faster a real quote comes back:

  • The date, and whether it’s flexible
  • Roughly how many people
  • The occasion
  • Which meals you want covered
  • Where you’re staying, or at least the neighbourhood
  • Any allergies, diets, or things someone genuinely won’t eat

Don’t wait until all of it is settled. A date and a rough headcount is plenty to start a conversation.

One note on timing: if you’re booking between January and April, over Modernism Week, or on a festival weekend, send it as early as you can manage. Those dates go first and the Saturdays go before anything else.

If you’re still deciding what kind of evening you want, the sample menus are a useful place to start, and the service pages cover what each kind of booking involves. You are also welcome to send a rough idea and let the chef suggest the format. Most people describe the occasion and the number of guests, then leave the rest to us, which is usually how the best menus come about anyway.
